Slow Cooker Candied Pecans

Nothing brings in the holiday season better than a big ole’ bowl full of deliciously sweet candied pecans. The smell alone is enough to get you excited enough to wrap gifts, baste a turkey or sing Christmas carols. Maybe I’m being a bit over the top, but they really are a delicious treat that are perfect for celebrating Christmas.

Candied nuts seem like they might be a difficult process to make, but I promise you that they’re perfectly easy. You can whip up a batch in your slow cooker or crock-pot in no time, with minimal effort and everyone in the house will thank you for it. Trust me.

Candied nuts make the perfect teacher or neighbor gift. Simply place them into a mason jar or cookie tin with a pretty ribbon and you’re good to go. They are also a great addition to just about any cookie or treat tray that you might be making this holiday season. Plus, nuts are great for you since they’re full of fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals, so these candied pecans are a less guilty treat than most.

Are Candied Pecans Shelf Stable?

Fresh, homemade candied pecans will last up to two weeks at room temperature and up to a month in the refrigerator. They can also be kept in the freezer for up to two months.

Are Candied and Praline Pecans the Same Thing?

You might assume that a candied pecan and a praline pecan are one and the same, but they are actually different in that candied pecans are coated in a sweet syrup and then baked, while praline pecans are made by caramelizing pecans and sugar together. Candied pecans tend to be sweeter, while praline pecans have a more complex flavor from the caramel. You can’t go wrong with either one, since they’re both delicious.
