Christmas Trail Mix
This Christmas Trail Mix makes the perfect dish to serve at your next holiday party or to make and give as Christmas gifts to friends and neighbors.
It’s simple and uses regular ingredients, but is also fun and festive at the same time. Whether you call in trail mix, party mix, Chex mix or snack mix, it’s sure to be a hit this holiday season with those that you love.
While this is a delicious recipe, feel free to substitute according to your tastes and what you have on hand. You can do rice squares instead of corn squares and kettle corn instead of buttered popcorn. If you feel like adding in some peanuts or pecans then go right ahead.

What’s in Christmas Trail Mix?
- butter
- brown sugar
- corn syrup
- salt
- baking soda
- corn Chex
- popped popcorn
- red and green M&Ms
- mini marshmallows
- Christmas Sprinkles
How to Make Christmas Trail Mix:
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees F and pour the corn Chex and popcorn into a large bowl(s).
Make the caramel sauce by adding the butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt to a small saucepan.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly.
After the butter is melted, allow the mixture to simmer for 5 minutes, stirring the whole time.
Remove the pan from heat and add the baking soda. Stir to mix the baking soda into the other ingredients, then immediately pour the mixture over the Chex and popcorn.
Carefully stir the cereal and popcorn until it’s fully coated in the caramel sauce being careful not to burn yourself.
Spread the mixture evenly over 2 baking sheets and top with Christmas sprinkles, if desired.
Place the pans in the oven to bake for 1 hour, stirring halfway through baking.
When the baking time is done, remove the pans from the oven and allow to cool completely.
Top with M&Ms and mini marshmallows, then transfer to a serving bowl or airtight container.

- ½ cup corn syrup
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda

- 1 12- ounce box corn Chex
- 4 cups popped popcorn
- 1 cup red and green M&Ms
- 2 cups mini marshmallows
- Christmas sprinkles optional
