You can whip up several quarts of this delicious recipe in no time which makes the perfect last minute gift for family, friends, teachers and neighbors. Who wouldn’t want a cookie mix as a Christmas gift? I know it would bring a smile to my face if someone took the time to make one of these for me.

These mixes come together easily as you layer one ingredient at a time in your jar and then top it off with a lid. Once your jars are all full, all you need to do is download, print and attach your free recipe labels and you’re good to go.

What is the shelf life of this Cookies in a Jar Mix?

As long as you start with fresh ingredients and a clean, dry jar, your mix should last 3 months in the pantry.

How do I Make Christmas Cookie Mix in a Jar?

Place a canning funnel into a quart size jar.

Pour the flour in the bottom of the jar and tap the jar to level the flour layer.

Add the cornstarch, baking soda, and salt. Tap the jar again to level the ingredients.

Add the brown sugar. Use a spoon to press down the sugar and make it compact.

Pour the vanilla into the center of the sugar layer.

Top the sugar with mini chocolate chips. Lightly shake the jar to level.

Fill the remaining space in the top of the jar with M&Ms.

Place the lid onto the jar.

Print out the gift tag and cut it out around the outer border.

Punch a hole into the corner of the tag and use the ribbon to attach it to the top of the jar.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • ½ cup red and green M&Ms

Instructions

Notes

Instructions for Baking the Cookies:
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 egg
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Beat together the butter and egg until smooth.
Add the contents of the jar and mix on low until the dough begins to come together.
Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to scoop the dough onto the baking sheet.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes.
