Once you try this recipe for Basil Sparkling Lemonade, you’ll never want to go back to regular lemonade again. You may even want to grow a basil plant next summer so that you can have it anytime you want.

How to make Basil Sparkling Lemonade:
In small saucepan, combine sugar, water and basil.
Bring mixture to boil, crushing basil leaves as you stir. Let simmer 5 minutes.
Remove from heat and allow mixture to cool completely.
Once cooled, strain the basil leaves out of the syrup.
In glass pitcher, combine lemon juice and syrup mixture.
Place pitcher in refrigerator for at least 2 hours to chill.
Once ready to serve, pour chilled club soda into the pitcher with the syrup mixture and serve over ice.

Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup basil leaves
- 1 liter club soda chilled
- juice from 6 lemons approx 1 1/4 cups
Instructions

- Bring mixture to boil, crushing basil leaves as you stir. Let simmer 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and allow mixture to cool completely.
- Once cooled, strain the basil leaves out of the syrup.
- In glass pitcher, combine lemon juice and syrup mixture.
- Place pitcher in refrigerator for at least 2 hours to chill.
- Once ready to serve, pour chilled club soda into the pitcher with the syrup mixture and serve over ice.
