5-Ingredient Homemade Pancake and Waffle Mix

If you’re anything like me, then you love learning how to make just about everything from scratch. Anything that you can learn to make from home to replace buying at the grocery store is a win and after you try this pancake mix, you’ll never buy the store-bought stuff again.

Just a heads up, this mix uses five simple pantry ingredients, but you will need milk, eggs and oil to make your pancakes or waffles.

I love keeping this mix in the pantry for fresh homemade waffles or pancakes anytime we feel like it. I’m not a fan of the store-bought mixes, but I don’t always have time to do things completely from scratch, which is why whipping up this mix ahead of time is the perfect solution.

Ingredients for Homemade Pancake Mix:

  • all-purpose flour
  • baking powder
  • sugar
  • salt
  • baking soda

How to Make Homemade Pancake or Waffle Mix:

Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and stir thoroughly.
Place mix in airtight container and store in your pantry or cabinet.

For Pancakes:

Makes 8 small pancakes per cup of mix.

Stir together 1 cup pancake mix, 1 egg and 3/4 cup milk in a mixing bowl
Heat greased griddle or pan and drop 1/4 cup at a time to make pancakes, flipping them once they are golden brown.

For Waffles:

Makes four 4″ waffles per cup of mix.

Stir together 1 cup pancake mix, 1 egg, 2/3 cup milk and 3 tbsp oil.
Heat waffle iron and add 1/4 batter per square or 1/2 cup for Belgian waffle .
Cook until golden brown.

Note: If batter is too thick add 1/4 cup milk to make it runnier.

  • 8 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 4 tsp baking soda

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and stir thoroughly.
  • Place mix in airtight container and store in your pantry or cabinet.

For Pancakes:
