Okay I made this today. I think it had a little after taste or a some what plastic taste anyone else have thst issue? I used 1.5 pound setting sweet bread.
I know what you’re talking about. I think it’s the raisins but can’t be sure
I made this today, just cut a slice, its awful I don’t know what I did wrong, its like eating cardboard, my yeast is new I don’t know what I did wrong butter was room temperature
I am 70 years old and have been using bread machines for many years and am currently on my third machine. Things I have learned to consider when baking bread in a machine: Was the water cold or lukewarm? It needs to be lukewarm. Was the salt mixed with the yeast? That would create a harder bread. Was the flour Canadian or US? Canadian flour has more gluten in it than US flour which can affect the bread. I have also found that lifting the bread machine lid several times to take a peek can affect the bread. Refrigerating a jar of yeast after opening is helpful. Check the expiration date on the jar. Concerning the yeast, do a google on how to do a “proofing of yeast. Be sure to set the 2 lb.loaf size on your machine as this is what Missy uses for her bread machine recipes. Finally, I have found that bread machines used in different altitudes or areas with different weather conditions can also affect the bread. There are many helpful solutions available through online searching. if you do a google search. hope this will be helpful.
I’m making this right now
The recipe just says Flour instead of Bread Flour like other recipes. Does that mean I can use all-purpose flour?
Sorry, bread flour is best, but yes you can use all-purpose as well.
This is the perfect cinnamon raisin bread. I have made it several times, and it’s been delightful verytime. 😊
Hi! I just made the bread twice and it was great! I made it once with bread flour and once with all purpose. Definitely recommend using bread flour! I do have a question, though. Would I be able to add fresh blueberries instead of raisins when it beeps to add stuff in? I’m new to bread making and I’m not sure if the moisture from the blueberries would mess stuff up. 🙂
Do you melt the butter? Or just room temp?
Absolutely delicious! A few suggestions after making this recipe a few times…room temp (or warmer) for the butter and water, proof the yeast, and soak the raisins before putting them in. Makes for a high rising, fluffy bread.
Thanks for the tips!
Mandy – did you soak your raisins in water or something else like tea or fruit juice?
This was excellent and easy. I took the recommendation of soaking the raisins and it really made a difference. They stayed plump. This is on my regular rotation now.
It says cook time is 3hrs. When I select “sweet” option 3 on my Elite Gourmet bread machine it says 3 hrs 50 minutes. Do I take it out at 3hrs? Thanks.
I would just let your bread machine do the whole cycle.
Enjoying this with a big glass of milk and slathered with butter. Very good bread. Next time I think I will proof my yeast and melt my butter. But that’s just my preference. Did not have to plump my raisins. Will make again.
Just made this raisin bread today. Couldn’t wait to try it, it was worth the wait.
Delicious, light airy. Yum!!
Thank you for this great quick bread machine recipe. Haven’t used my bread machine in years. But this was.perfect!
I made this today, was really good. Hadn’t used my bread machine in years. Used brown sugar and added 2 tsp. of cinnamon.
I make breads all the time. I only use my bread machine to do the kneading. I always do everything on dough cycle. So can I just add the raisins with all the other ingredients, or should I add them before the final rise.
I just got done making Bread machine cinnamon raisin bread and it is so good. Thank you very much. I’ve been looking for a good recipe and this is it. Thank you
Darlene
A little confused you say active dry yeast but when I click on link you put instant yeast does it matter what yeast you use?
this is a great recipe easy to make
Hands down the most fluffy and soft bread I have ever made in a bread machine. This is so delicious!
