Glazed Donut Strawberry Shortcake

Strawberry shortcakes are a simple and delicious treat for enjoying in the spring and summer, but what if we make them with a special twist? Traditionally they’re made with a sponge, angel food or shortcake, but why not use a glazed donut instead?

Donuts are one of my absolute favorite foods, so anytime I have an excuse to eat them I go for it. These strawberry shortcakes are made with glazed donuts sliced in half lengthwise, then filled and topped with homemade whipped cream and sweet sliced strawberries. Who could resist such a deliciously sweet summertime treat?

Ingredients for Glazed Donut Strawberry Shortcakes

  • glazed doughnuts
  • fresh strawberries
  • sugar
  • heavy whipping cream
  • powdered sugar
  • vanilla extract

How to Make Glazed Donut Strawberry Shortcake

In a medium mixing bowl, toss the sliced strawberries with sugar and let them sit for 10 minutes to release their juices.

Meanwhile, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract together until soft peaks form.

Slice each donut in half horizontally to create a top and bottom layer.

Spoon some macerated strawberries over the bottom halves of the donuts, followed by a dollop of whipped cream.
