How to Trust God with Your Life

I’ve struggled off and on with anxiety over the last few years and if you’re here reading this, then you may be going through your own difficult circumstances.

In fact, I’m sure that you are going through your own hard times because we live in a fallen world and have to face difficulties every single day.

I like to share verses that God has laid on my heart with others in hopes that He can use them to encourage someone else who might be struggling.

I know that the past few years have been difficult on just about everyone, but the fact is that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. His love and faithfulness never change.

God’s word says that he will never leave us or forsake us, which means no matter how bad things seem, he is still in control. You can trust Him to work everything out for our good and His glory.

He knows what we are facing and wants us to lean into Him when we are struggling or worried.

Never Give Up Hope

As humans, we are so small and finite compared to the creator of the heavens and the earth. We may feel that our situation is hopeless, but if you are a Christian that is never the case.

There is always, ALWAYS hope because God is on his throne working everything out and he is literally the God of hope.

One of the things that God has taught me through all of this is that anxiety can only come when we aren’t trusting in Him.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.”
-Proverbs 3:5-6

“Delight yourself in the LORD,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him, and he will act.”
-Psalm 37:4-5

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD,
whose trust is the LORD.
He is like a tree planted by water,
that sends out its roots by the stream,
and does not fear when heat comes,
for its leaves remain green,
and is not anxious in the year of drought,
for it does not cease to bear fruit.”
-Jeremiah 17:7-8

Keep Your Focus on Jesus

Just think of Peter when he saw Jesus walking on the water. When Peter’s focus was on Jesus and he put his faith in Him, he (Peter) was able to walk with Jesus on the water, but when he (Peter) looked around at his circumstances and took his eyes off of Jesus he began to sink.

So when we put our focus, regardless of our circumstances, on the one true God we will walk on the solid ground of faith, hope and love, but when we start to focus on our earthly struggles, we’ll surely begin to sink into anxiety, fear and depression.

If we TRULY put all of our faith and trust in HIM who already has the victory, then what is there to worry or be anxious about? I have to put my whole life in His hands and simply trust that he knows what is best.

“Our soul waits for the LORD;
he is our help and our shield.
For our heart is glad in him,
because we trust in his holy name.
Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us,
even as we hope in you.”
-Psalm 33:20-22

“You keep him in perfect peace
whose mind is stayed on you,
because he trusts in you.
Trust in the LORD forever,
for the LORD GOD is an everlasting rock.”
-Isaiah 26:3-4

“The LORD is my strength and my shield;
in him my heart trusts, and I am helped;
my heart exults,
and with my song I give thanks to him.”
-Psalm 28:7

We Can Trust God Even in Difficult Circumstances

We as humans tend to dwell on our earthly circumstances, but often forget that God sees the whole picture, not just the struggle that we are facing in the moment.

He sees and he knows. He has the power and the ability to pull us from our problems in a way that we never could have imagined because we are only human and not an all-knowing God.

Just as we train our young children to trust us because we know how to keep them safe and what is best for them, we are called to trust our Heavenly Father for the very same reasons.

“Behold, God is my salvation;
I will trust, and will not be afraid;
for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation.”
-Isaiah 12:2

“And those who know your name put
their trust in you,
for you, O LORD, have not forsaken
those who seek you.”
-Psalm 9:10

“The fear of man lays a snare,
but whoever trusts in the LORD is safe.”
-Proverbs 29:25

Get Offline to Hear the Voice of God

We live in a world that is filled with bitterness, hate, fear and all manner of ungodly things that are thrown in our faces everyday, but we have the option to tune the world out, by logging off and going for a walk instead.

How can we expect to be people who are filled with faith and trust in God, if we never take the time to turn off the noise and actually hear what God has to say?

So today I encourage you to build quiet space into your day and actually spend time with the Lord. Doing so is sure to reap a harvest of good things into your life, including being able to trust in Him more.

“Behold, God is my salvation;
I will trust, and will not be afraid;
for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation.”
-Isaiah 12:2

“And those who know your name put
their trust in you,
for you, O LORD, have not forsaken
those who seek you.”
-Psalm 9:10

“When I am afraid,
I put my trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
What can flesh do to me?”
-Psalm 56:3-4

    1. Rachael, I to experience anxious thoughts and am greatly overwhelmed. I try to hold onto Gods word, especially the verses HE gave me through a horrific painful time in 2014. I believe, but I struggle with sadness over this painful family division. 7 years! to wait for Gods promise to come into fruition, and I cry a lot. I have good days, but never "joyful" days. it hurts. I don't know you, but I will pray for you. We both are looking for a miracle and I know God is faithful.
      1. Grace I pray that you can find joy in God Almighty. I've been estranged from my youngest son. One of the things Go's showed me when I was hurting was that's how he felt when I didn't spend time with him. He told me to not worry about my relationship with my son, but to focus and seek him. In his time he will heal the relationship. That's the only way I've been able to move on. Very rare do I have sad days about it because I totally gave it to God and I'm trying harder to focus on my relationship with God. Pray for me as I pray for you. Blessing my sister.
    2. Very helpful, I just need to learn the meaning of certain words,I need to break down and study each that produces a challenge, the difference between trust and faith, and I have to train my mind to forget past negative experiences

  3. I have derailed from reading and mediating on the word of God. I'm thankful for being reminded of God's promises. I'm going through a tough time. I tried ending my life because of breaking up with someone who had clear intentions for me. I completely lost it. I don't know where I'm going now. I'm trusting God for a miracle for us to get back together with this person. But, everyone keeps reminding me that maybe it's for the best that we break up. I'm only 28years of age and I keep getting encouragements that I'm young and I'll find someone. Please pray for me. Thank you.
    1. I'm so sorry that you've been having a tough time, but don't give in to the enemies lies that there is nothing left for you. The enemy wants you to believe that life will always be this hard, but it won't. Life is always moving and changing. The Lord has a plan for you. Don't give up, just lean in to HIM and soak in the word of God.
    2. Keep trusting God Lereng because he can give you someone who will even treat you and love you better than the one you broke up with. He did it for me. Don't focus on getting back together but rather trust God to give you a good man. It can be either him or a better person

  9. i have been sruggling with family issues.. parents not expressing themselves to one another and I have dealt that burden on me for a long time.. even confronting them recently and opening up and making things known and heard of. I've been pleasing this emotion this struggle and not pleasing myself.. ive changed jobs probably 10 times over a year a half because I recently found out inside myself that I was trying to fill that void with working my butt off and ignoring my thoughts and denying my feelings because I imagined that was the normal thing to do... I have been weak and very emotional for a long time and I have embarrassed myself towards the girl that I like a lot.. and for obvious compulsive reasons she doesn't feel the same way towards me.. because the old me was like that.. and I never actually expressed myself to the fullest.. meaning I haven't shown to be myself loving caring etc... I'm turning 30 years old on July 3rd and Had kind of a prophecy type vision from several years back that I will be happy on this transition to my 30s.. I only ask in favor that who ever reads this really prays for my well being and for my heart and soul to finally calm down and be happy... I can honestly say I hope that girl whom I'm fond of for so many years.. I pray that god gives me the courage to actually face her face to face as a man so to speak.. so I can closure of my feelings on this deep profound love that I have towards her.. i was to be free of this feeling for better or worse meaning if god wants me and her to date or not.. thank you for reading this whom or who ever you are I just want my prayer to be heard and possibly be known. sincerely papaz

  11. Thank you for this! I use to worry a lot. I'd worry about not worrying. When I begin to focus on trusting God... I worried less. Now I just accept trusting God brings about a peace even in the midst of chaos.
  12. Thank you for sharing!!! I have never really known who I am until I turned 40! I have just learned how to love myself with all my strengths & imperfections. I have sought for attention & love from people all these years. I never really knew how to fully trust God. I decided later this year to soak myself in his word. I still struggle a lot with anxiety & worry about everything. It is actually my first time to post a testimony and I feel great doing it now. He will never leave us or forsake us is always on my lips. Your comments are a blessing to me and I hope I am a blessing to someone. God bless
