There is a moment in my past that haunts me.
I was working in a jewelry store in a college town and a girl about my age came in and I prejudged her as stuck up. She proceeded to check out with her jewelry and out of the blue she said,
“Have you ever been pregnant?”
with a desperate look on her face.
“Have you ever been pregnant?”
with a desperate look on her face.
I’d love to tell you that I reached out to her.
That we became friends and she came to know Christ, but…
That we became friends and she came to know Christ, but…
I froze. I just said, “No” and she took her change and walked away.
As soon as she left I was so incredibly mad at myself.
Why didn’t I say more?? Obviously she was desperate or she wouldn’t have asked a complete stranger that question. I don’t know what became of her, but I know God could have used me in that situation.
What if I had said more?
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how there are so many lonely and hurting people in this world. People that so desperately need a friend. People that need love. People that need Christ.
What if we as Christians were intentional about actually seeing those around us? What if we asked God to see people the way He sees them? What if we reached out more? What if we took the time to show them that God cares?
The truth is everyone needs a friend.
Everyone is hurting in one way or another and needs love.
If you are a stay at home mom and think you can’t reach people, what about the next time your at the grocery store? The gas station? The park? God could place someone in your path that needs Him and what if you answered the call?
