The Invested Life: A Review

I just finished reading The Invested Life: making disciples of all nations one person at at time by Joel C. Rosenberg and I loved it. He emphasizes that every follower of Jesus Christ should be able to answer two simple questions:

Who is investing in me?
Whom am I investing in?

Rosenberg explains how Jesus made disciples and commands us to follow his lead. He gives lots of biblical wisdom and practical advice on how to be discipled and how to turn and disciple others. He also gives stories and testimonies of the effectiveness and multiplying effect true discipleship has had in believers lives.

This book has really challenged me and caused me to stop and think through biblical discipleship on a practical and intentional level. It’s gotten me excited about beginning a journey of true biblical discipleship, something I’d never before thought a whole lot about. I’m in the process of prayerfully pursuing discipleship. I believe all Christians will glean something from reading this book and I highly recommend it!

Tyndale House Publishers has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book for review.

OK, this book looks really good--something I need to read! I found the first 29 pages in pdf form and will try it out. And if I like it, I can order it next time my husband buys from Amazon. Thank you for the review!

Update--I bought the book and finished reading it last week. At the first of it, I didn't agree very much with what the authors were saying and I almost put the book down. But I have a 'thing' about starting a book and not finishing it; that is against the rules! And I'm so glad I stuck it out. I personally have really gotten away from the idea of sharing my life with others and my faith in Christ. I pretty much live to myself and don't invest in anyone. So this was a real eye-opener and I am still processing it and trying to figure out what I should do next, using the ideas presented in the book. Committing to others and opening up my life to them is very uncomfortable. But my comfort should not be the issue. Thanks for bringing this book to my attention!
