Our Last Harvest: Sweet Potatoes

We dug our sweet potatoes this weekend which was basically our last harvest for this year. We got a pretty good crop with lots of huge potatoes. I think we planted 14 slips in the spring, but a couple of them died.

We also picked another load of apples and harvested our last watermelons and two more small pumpkins. We didn’t keep a tally of how much we grew, but we’ve definitely produced more this year than any other. I’ve still got lots of potatoes and onions in storage and lots of jars of tomato juice, applesauce, apple butter, jam, frozen corn and green beans to be eaten through the winter.

What’s going on in your garden?

I'd say you had a wonderful harvest! How lucky you are to have an apple tree- I love making apple dishes and cider in the fall...yum! We have yet to dig up our sweet potatoes, the leaves are still green and they are still going strong!
