It’s been awhile since my last garden update and I’m excited to start doing them again. I hope you enjoy them because I really like seeing the progress and documenting everything. As you can see in the picture above, our new garden is tilled and we are working on getting it all planted. Even though our garden is twice the size it was last year, it still seems like we’re running out of space. Crazy.

My husband set up our trellis this weekend and I was able to plant cucumbers and beans. I’m growing Red Chinese Noodle Beans which I’ve never grown before, but they look really interesting. They are long and thin like a noodle and we had better like them because I planted a ton of them.

We planted potatoes and onions a few weeks back and they are coming up nicely. I planted Yukon Gold and Red Pontiac, but I can’t remember which is which at this point. I’ve had problems with potato bugs in the past so it will be interesting to see what bugs I have to deal with at the new place. Also, we are planning on mulching with straw to keep weeds down, but we haven’t found a good source yet, so I’ll have to pull them by hand until then. I’m hoping to get tomatoes, peppers, basil, squash and sweet potatoes in the ground over the next couple of weeks.

We’re still living at our house in town, but I’m so looking forward to being out in the country all the time. It’s so peaceful, except for the snakes. We found two this weekend, but hopefully they will clear out once we brush hog everything and let our dog run around. Here’s the view from our driveway.

I guess that’s about it. What’s growing in your garden?

Thanks for posting about your garden! I look forward to seeing more as you progress forward with it this year. We,too, moved from the city to a house with 4 acres in the "country" (outside city limits), and I will be able to have a garden for the first time:)

I love seeing other peoples gardens. I enjoyed helping my grandma with hers when I was young, however I tend to kill everything. Congrats on becoming a contributor at Sarah Titus!
