Instant Pot Applesauce

I received an Instant Pot (multipurpose pressure cooker) for Christmas this year and I’ve had fun over the past couple of months trying it out. I asked my weekly newsletter subscribers (sign up here) if they would be interested in me posting pressure cooker recipes in the future and a bunch of them were interested, so here I am.

I’ve only used my Instant Pot a handful of times, so I’m still learning, but I’m excited to start sharing some new recipes here with you guys in the weeks and months to come.

Today I’m sharing a super quick and simple recipe for applesauce. I used my Johnny Apple Peeler by VICTORIO to quickly core, peel and slice my apples, but you can also do it with a knife or apple cutter. I prefer to make it unsweetened, but feel free to add sugar if you want. I really love how I can just add a couple of ingredients to the Instant Pot, set it and walk away. I also love how QUICK it cooks everything.

Leave me a comment below and let me know if you have an Instant Pot and also what kind of recipes you would like me to share in the future. I was thinking about sharing a potato salad recipe next where you cook the potatoes and eggs at the same time in the Instant Pot. What do you think??

How to Make Instant Pot Applesauce:

makes 5 cups

Peel, core and slice apples.

Add apples and water to Instant Pot.

Seal lid, hit the manual button and adjust time to 5 minutes for large apple chunks. You may want to cook for less time if you have small pieces of apples.

When cooking time ends, allow the pressure to release naturally. Remove the lid and let apples cool.

Add apples and cinnamon to blender. Blend well. Enjoy!

  2. I did a quick release and made a huge mess. I would recommend a natural release or 10-minute natural release and to cut the cook time.
  3. Ha, no need for a blender! Just stir it, it's done. :-) I have used a slow cooker to make my own for years, 5 minutes over 5 hours? YES! Love my IP.
  4. The first time I tried this, I didn't read your directions carefully and added the cinnamon in with the water and apples. No problem!
