Skip the mess and learn how to make hard-boiled eggs in the oven!

Having chickens, I go through a lot of eggs and one of my favorite recipes to use them up is chicken salad. I love that I can prep it in the morning and stick it in the fridge ready and waiting for dinnertime, however hard-boiling eggs for the recipe isn’t my favorite thing to do. I don’t know why, but I find it to be an annoying step in the cooking process. I like to keep things simple without a lot of fuss and I guess I feel like hard-boiling complicates things. Am I the only one???

Anyway, I had heard that you could make hard-boiled eggs in the oven and so I decided to give it a try. I was impressed with the results and the process couldn’t have been easier, but I will probably save this method for when I’m making several eggs at once or if my oven is already pre-heated because they have to bake for 30 minutes at a time. I wanted to pass this tip on though, in case it comes in handy for anyone else.

How to Make Hard-Boiled Eggs in the Oven

1. Preheat oven to 350.

2. Place one egg per muffin tin.

3. Bake for 30 minutes or until eggs are cooked through.

(Brown spots on the shell are normal.)

4. Let cool or plunge in ice bath until cool enough to handle.

5. Peel eggs and use accordingly.

Enjoy!

Have you ever hard-boiled eggs in the oven? I’d love to know!

  1. I don't like hard-boiling eggs either. I either forget they're on the stove and cook them too long or worry that I haven't cooked them enough. I'll have to give this a try when I have my kitchen back after our move and see if my husband likes them.
  2. Interesting! I had read somewhere too that you can hardboil them in the oven but was always leery about trying it. And I just recently tried adding hard boiled eggs to chicken salad and we really liked it. Not sure why I never thought of doing it before!
