Fall Garden Journal

I missed doing a garden update for August so I’ll get you up to speed really quick. We harvested about 150+ lbs of tomatoes. We also got lots of green beans, peppers, and okra. We canned some tomato juice and tomato sauce and we also gave away a lot of tomatoes. I’m not sure we will be planting 70 plants next year. 🙂 We pulled all of our plants except a few of the fall crops so the garden isn’t very pretty right now.

Here are some marigolds that Walker and I cut this morning. I have high hopes for growing all kinds of flowers each year, but they always seem to die on me. Maybe next year.

Some of our pumpkins are starting to turn orange! I’m so excited about them! They’re pie pumpkins so they won’t get very big. I plan on making some pies, which I’ve never done with real pumpkins before, any tips?

We also have a small number of cucumbers that I planted late.
Here is my harvest for today:
Here is one of our watermelons. We have a grand total of three. I have no idea when to expect them to ripen. I’ve heard that the vine it’s attached too will start to turn brown when it’s ready.
Here are our sweet potatoes. They are crazy growing everywhere. I can’t wait to dig them up next month!! Fall vegetables are my absolute favorite!
We also have an apple tree on the land next to us that we are purchasing which I am so excited about!! Hopefully, I will have lots of apple recipes and posts in the weeks to come.

What’s growing in your garden?

Holy Cow that's a ton of tomatoes! Ours didn't do very well this year :( I love fall veggies too and we have some sweet potatoes and pumpkins growing as well. Sounds like you had a fantastic harvest!
