  1. In Sacramento CA they have .99Cent stores. There are tables in the back if their stores that have seasonal fruit and vegetables..I like your menu ,I cook similar meals .Hamburger in bulk,I separate in small packages .Chili.hamburgers,tacos,meatloaf ect .all economical..Beans are great and high in protein.
  2. Potato soup is a frugal meal that I make every 2 weeks. It is delicious, uses up fridge leftovers and is easy to make:. Cut up about 1/3 pkg. Bacon (any kind). Fry, add some chopped onions and a bit of minced garlic. Fry until onions are soft and bacon is cooked (but doesn't have to be crispy.). Add 4 cups water or broth, (I usually just use Knorr chicken cubes), 1/2 cup chopped carrots, 1/2 cup chopped celery, cook a few minutes. Add cubed raw potatoes (1 per person). Cook until all vegetables are tender. Thicken soup with 1 cup milk mixed with 2 T. flour, pour in slowly so soup thickens and flour cooks .Maybe 10 minutes. Now some cooks would blend all this, but we don't.. Add pepper and salt (unless the bacon was quite salty). It''s really filling and tastes great. I particularly like to eat the vegetables rather than a blended mixture. Looks nicer too. Very economical dish, costs pennies/serving, is filling and healthy.
  3. I make my own HEALTHY muffins so I never have to eat fast food....I take them to the beach etc. FAST FOOD IS CODE FOR FATTNING.
  4. I see lots of carbs and sugar and very little protein. May cost a lot less however, children need protein and it's pretty much missing in your menu plans. I see you have chicken but no other protein except cheese which is heavy in fat. Rice, flour or corn burritos, beans (with some protein), potatoes are heavy carbs. Unfortunately, in many third world countries there is evidence this type of eating creates obesity and unhealthy people. Grow veggies, i.e. spinach, kale, collards, carrots, parsnips, turnips, brussel sprouts, asparagus, squash particularly butternut, acorn, spaghetti squash. These veggies are so much better for you. When they are in season, they are reasonably prices, especially asparagus. Not wanting to condemn you but there are better ways to feed your family. Also, go to the bargain shelves, protein marked down as almost out of date for purchase. There is one bread I buy which is .50 per loaf. That's cheap and combine with protein, oh, like you did with a 2nd protein, tuna. Be very careful purchasing cheap canned tuna or any fish as lots of mercury. The worst is tilapia which is farm raised in their own feces.
